“Old Navy is facing a lawsuit in the Central District of California alleging that its AI chatbot participates in illegal wiretapping by logging, recording and storing conversations.
The plaintiff’s filing argues that the chatbot “convincingly impersonates an actual human that encourages consumers to share their personal information.”
Dozens of consumer privacy lawsuits, not all related to the latest AI, have been filed in California against companies including Home Depot, General Motors, Ford, and JCPenney based on illegal wiretapping court precedent dating back to the 1960s.”
