Westpac turns on AI chatbot Red as cost pressures mount

“Westpac said its new chatbot, known as Red, is now available for 4.9 million digital customers after being launched on Monday night, part of a more aggressive shift to digital rather than physical banking.
The proportion of products sold through digital channels hit 36 per cent in the half, up from 29 per cent in the previous half.
The number of branch transactions was down 8 per cent, and over the past six months, 40 branches were closed and more than 300 ATMs removed.”
