They actually have one huge advantage over the neobanks: An existing set of customers to help provide a revenue base to help fund and monetize the expansion.
There is (no surprise here) one big disadvantage: The expansion won’t happen by simply putting bank branches in other geographic locations. Strategically placed branches could help, but the growth strategy MUST be driven by technology.”
